What is the Citizens Trust constitution?

We are a Community Benefit Society and operate on a constitutional basis. The constitution has been approved by the Financial Conduct Authority and was initially written by the Football Supporters Association as part of their ‘Model Rules’ for supporters’ trusts.

Code of Conduct

The Citizens Trust is a member-led, democratic organisation. It relies on ALL members participating in a way which puts inclusiveness, good faith, politeness, kindness and good cheer at the heart of the society in all our functions.

Policies that Protect and Support our Members

We are committed to running an organisation in which the welfare of our members is paramount. All members must agree to our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy which can be read here, our Safeguarding Policy which can be read here and Privacy Policy which can be read here when they make an application to become a member.

We also know accessibility means more than putting just things online. We have tried to make our content and design clear and simple enough so that most people can use it without needing to adapt it, while supporting those who do need to adapt things where necessary. 

Finance and accounting records

We are committed to full transparency and will always publish full accounting information in line with Financial Conduct Authority guidelines. We will post links to our latest accounts here as soon as they are available.

We will also aim to go above and beyond minimum requirements wherever possible. For example, by posting annual expense claims and communicating costs for all events, initiatives and activities run by the Trust.

Meeting minutes

Minutes of all Board and Committee meetings will be published on the News and Events page within a week of the meeting occurring, so that members can always stay up to date on what’s happening with your Trust.
