Work on behalf of fans affected by the club’s ’10 game’ policy by The Citizens Trust

Our team led by Katie Wrench, Membership Officer on the Interim Board, has been working hard to support season ticket holders appealing againt decisions resulting from the club’s unfair ’10 game’ policy.

Since renewal information has been released, many longstanding supporters have found they are unable to renew their season cards and unable to get exemptions from the ’10 game’ rule, even in cases where circumstances were out of their control AND the supporter in question had ensured their seat was full for every game.

In many cases, this resulted in supporters being downgraded to a ‘Flexi Gold’ ticket against their wishes. This is a lesser product and is not comparable to the security of a traditional season ticket.

We have been trying to support City fans throughout this process whether they are Trust members or not. We have been approached by 24 season ticket members to date. Reasons given for why they fell foul of the ’10 game’ policy include:

  • Distance and travel
  • Ill health
  • Work commitments
  • Care responsibilities
  • Last minute fixture changes and midweek games

These restrictions made things difficult for lots of people, but many made a point of ensuring their seat was filled for the game though transfer or the ticket exchange.

So far, the results of the work with supporters and the club are:

  • 5 season ticket downgrades overturned on appeal.
  • 11 still in process.
  • The rest told no by the club.

Some of those who have been rejected are appealing with the club for a second time and we will continue to support them in this.

Overall, we want to ensure that City supporters are represented as well as possible, and that they don’t feel abandoned by the club, or even sacrificed in favour of inflexible rules.

The Citizens Trust exists to represent supporters, most importantly our members. We want the stadium full and the atmosphere loud to support the team we love.
